The client’s original concept for the ring featured sharp protruding elements that surrounded the snake motif. Additionally, the ring called for a hollow interior, a design not feasible in creating stainless steel jewelry – not to mention very uncomfortable to wear.
To address the compatibility issue, we gave the client some feasible options to choose from.
- The first option involves softening the custom stainless steel ring’s sharp elements, making it more comfortable to wear for the end user. They can also opt for a more expensive material to accommodate the hollow design like copper or silver.
- For the second option, we still recommended softening the sharp protruding elements on the ring for a comfortable wearing experience. But instead of using expensive metal for the ring, we suggested replacing the hollow design with a smooth, high polish surface. This will not only give the piece an extra level of durability but also enhance the jewelry’s aesthetic appeal.

Securely set the stone with no gap
Another obstacle we encountered during the production process was the stone-setting method. Prong setting, a commonly used stone setting method for ring manufacturing, was not suitable for this type of stainless-steel jewelry. Using this stone setting method easily leads to the stone cracking and potentially falling from the piece.
We overcame this challenge by first recommending the use of adhesives to attach the stones securely to the ring. Once positioned, the stone will be sealed using advanced manufacturing techniques, and then set the four prongs on the piece to achieve the desired look. This process will secure the stone with no gaps, resulting in an amazing and polished final product.

After creating a physical sample of the custom snake motif ring, we showed it to the client and loved how it looked.
